Oracle DBA

Job Description

The operations team is in search of an Oracle DBA. The operations team provides 24x7 database and systems administration services for the company’s core products, hosted in data centers and deployed on Oracle 10g and Oracle 11g databases. We are currently planning a migration to Oracle RAC to support our growing customer base, and this should present a very exciting and challenging opportunity for database administrators committed to learning and growing with the organization.

Duties

  • Managing database configurations, schemas, and space
  • Supporting rolling out of new application code / builds in production and QA environments
  • Doing performance tuning, problem research/resolution, SQL review and deployments
  • Managing Replication, Backup/Recovery and High Availability
  • Monitoring the database health
  • Reviews database design and makes recommendations regarding enhancements
  • Performing on-call support as needed for a 24x7 production environment
  • Collaborate with operations personnel on capacity planning strategies and processes
  • Troubleshooting database issues
  • Opening & following up on support issues with Oracle support

Skills/Requirements

  • 3-4 years of real-world Oracle 10g / 11g DBA experience
  • Oracle RAC experience highly desired
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems desirable
  • Proficiency building new oracle databases in 10g / 11g
  • Experience with Linux shell scripts and other Oracle technologies preferred
  • Understanding of Oracle design, architecture, security & performance tuning
  • Experience using RMAN, OEM, SQL and PL/SQL
  • Experience using Data Guard is a plus
  • Ability to diagnose problems related to system resource limitations and database configuration settings
  • Proficient in automation (shell scripting) and documentation
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as a team member
  • Must be comfortable in both self-managed and team driven tasks
  • Understanding of storage systems and management of data
  • Basic understanding of data security strategies and processes
